Coronavirus (COVID-19): Calvert Nature Society will follow recommendations made by County, State & National guidelines.

Calvert Nature Society  is taking all necessary measures to protect public health and welfare. It is important to follow public health recommendations, advisories and protective actions to slow the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and limit the number of people infected. The risk of getting coronavirus is still low. We know that for many people, summer plans have changed.  If you will be closer to home than you had planned, join us for our first Great American Campout!

You can join in whatever way works for you whether you are in a park campground, your backyard, or even in your living room.

      What does the Campout Include?

      • Each week of June we will be posting activity ideas and videos to get your family outside and having fun - and ready to camp.  We will include topics like: how to set up a tent, night animals, and outdoor cooking. These will be posted on our Calvert Nature Society Youtube channel  and Facebook page. Announcements will be sent to registered folks first via email, so register if you plan to participate.
      • Live-streamed programs on the night of June 27 including things like  - campfire cooking, a night walk, family-friendly campfire stories and songs.
      • We will end with a morning check-in on June 28 so we can share our overnight camping experiences.
      • This is a choose-your-own-adventure event: participate as much or as little as you want and are able to in whatever way works best for you.
      • Videos and activity sheets will be available on the CNS website for you to reference later, too.

At the end of a summer day, if a child isn’t dirty, there is something missing! Dirt is teeming with life, and is often the sign of a good time. In this online class we will dig into underground ecosystems - to discover who and see  what is underfoot. Tune in for ways to explore and play with mud.

This is an online class.  Supply list will be made available before class time, then tune in to the Calvert Nature Society's Facebook page for video or live stream class.
