Grant Funds Support Renovation of Kings Landing Cabins - 7.17.14
Calvert County was recently awarded $15,000 in grant funds to support the renovation of seven cabins at Kings Landing Park that once housed a summer camp for African-American youth run by the Baltimore YMCA.

Shanty to be Rebuilt: County Grant to Help -- 7.6.14
After losing the last remaining historic fishing shanty at Flag Ponds Nature Park in Lusby to arson almost two years ago, efforts to reconstruct the shanty are underway to give visitors a glimpse into the lives of Chesapeake Bay watermen.
Now, with a $20,000 grant from the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners to the Battle Creek Nature Education Society, which was approved last month, the simple but significant building can once again serve as an educational tool regarding the history of Flag Ponds and the fishing industry in the county.
